Hello Facebook, Goodbye Myspace

Myspace was once viewed as the ultimate social networking site. Account holders enjoyed access to creating backgrounds, posting pictures, and freind requesting one another. During this era, Facebook was deemed the "college" networking site. Facebook opened their site to ALL users and once this happened, Myspace became a think of the past. Today, Facebook has billions of users while Myspace attempts to hold on by promoting music in replace of social networking. It is truely amazing how these internet sites will convert users. If Facebook conquered Myspace, will another site eventually overtake Facebook?

  1. I've never had a MySpace so I don't really know how it works. I've heard it was kind of slow and hard to use and make it personal. Facebook has all those options but just the regular format is good I think. It's easy to manage too. I don't think anything will take over Facebook any time soon.

  2. Yes Facebook has far outpaced MySpace. MySpace was the first truly enormous social network site. It paved the way for Facebook and opened the online profile for many users. It’s music section and how it helped artists connect with fans was very good. It was cool that you could edit your page with HTML and make some very cool and personal pages. Although this made for very interactive personal profiles, I think many users were overwhelmed with HTML. Most people have trouble with basic computer skills so HTML programing was beyond their scope. And as Facebook started to catch on, with its new, clean, and improved interface it took over as the dominate site.

  3. I’m sure that someday there will be a new networking site that takes over Facebook. I used to be on MySpace, but as soon as I got on Facebook I deleted everything on my account and haven’t been back since. I think that before MySpace there was a site called Friendster. I never had an account on it but I think it was similar to MySpace and Facebook. It was a way for friends to stay in touch.
